  • Read some advance press:

Blowfish wrote a nice synopsis of the event:

As advertised there were 3 floors of fun.

Even though it was 96 degrees or something people came out and were jammed in to see the groups, not letting the heat of hell or the crowding dissuade them for staying ALL NIGHT (no exit for the Guru's at the Middle East that I could see). I don't know the numbers but the deck and the bottom floors were basically full and the second floor had scattered people because of the heat.

The floor with the films was HOT but some people did sit and watch the documentary and Jan Crocker's videos. People all-night were telling stories of what they happened to see. This was a big attraction for some people and it did draw some fans who watched them a lot.

The food was fantastic and plentiful. The RIBS were not to be believed. Seeing the free food you could begin to appreciate the work Joanie did and how people out there really do think the LRC is worthy of celebration. The ice cream cake was a big success and just all the food was a real treat.

The roof deck with the food was a real attractive hangout it had great views of the city and was as cool as it was going to get. Many stayed up there until midnight to talk, talk, and talk. There were so many great people up there from the old days that haven't been out a whole lot and many, many people who have been on the scene for up to 30 years and were interacting. I meet a few REAL FANS who just were listeners from all these years.

Downstairs where the bands were was so hot but people didn't seem to care. It was crowded for every group. The bar was popping. The opening band brought by Rick Barton was called Cutlass 3 and were very good. Band 19, The Outlets and The Neighborhoods did not disappoint. It was a sweaty rocking night down there that won't be forgot for a long time. The
Outlets had agreed to go on latter when it was thought that the people would leave for the Hoodoos, but that never happened and we thank the Outlets for being men and taking it on. They are true fearless rockers, no bull.

Meanwhile the week on the air was another success. Lots of stories and personalities filled up the week easy. Tom Lane was such a joy to see and hear. We are so lucky to have such a group a talented DJ's through the years and currently. So much has happened this week that it will take a while to digest.

Everyone says it and it can't be said enough. Joanie has been working to get this together for a long time and deserves ALL the credit for a fantastic anniversary.

The LRC is 30 years old. It's like an institution. Who would've thought?
