Feature set on The Weakerthans was kinda short … and I’m a bit disappointed in the new album. Lyrical content is great, as always, on a first listen, but I feel like a lot of the songs retread their other mid-tempo work from Reconstruction Site. Some great harmonies still surprise from time to time, though.

I was joined today by LRC founder Thom Lane and former LRC deejays Bob Weston, David Greene, and Henry Santoro. Due to some technical difficulties, we were unable to air a phone call from Peter Choyce, one of my all-time favorite LRC hosts who is now living on the Left Coast. Bummer.

The first hour was dedicated to Thom’s Stiff Records singles. Bob and David programmed some sets for the second hour, and Henry and Thom showed they hadn’t lost their command of the World Famous Late Risers Club Concert Report. Considering all the records that didn’t make it to the airwaves, it was clear (at least to me) that we could have easily given each of these guys two hours of their own.

Damn, what a messed up show with the phone interview (never my strong point) but
this 7 second delay had never been a problem. So that and a few other glitches made
the chat with Morgan amusing, if not annoying as hell. Peter brought out some of the
English side of things. Dave Barton stopped by, rocking the new/old Outlets CD.
